Physiotherapy is a rewarding career. But it's more than a job for me, it's my passion. I love to work with people and help them get back to the things they love. I've been very fortunate to see many success stories firsthand. I believe in the power of physiotherapy and the therapists who dedicate their lives to improving the lives of others. That is why I created GetPT1st, a site dedicated to promoting the profession and educating the public on the what a physio does and when people should see a physiotherapist first for their aches and pains.
We can all agree that there are many, many ways that a physiotherapist can help people feel better, but how do you take that message to the masses? How do you take the wealth of information and research supporting physio and condense it down so that someone without a medical background can understand? How do you promote and advocate for the profession in a way that is effective and responsible? GetPT1st is a grassroots movement that doesn't support any specific company, technique, or association. Because of this, everyone is able to be involved, especially non-therapists. I believe that the best advocates are the patients themselves. To hear their story in their own words is very powerful, and helps to make a connection that data alone cannot. Stories carry emotion and make a connection.
