Mukesh, I anticipate your some questions would be directed towards the field of Indian Physiotherapy. I could only answer them in light of my experience in the field. A subjective element is likely to creep in. However, it would be realistic based on my exposure. I joined Physiotherapy; by coincidence. When I applied for physiotherapy in 1958, I hardly knew anything about it. There were just 10 seats and it was a Diploma course for 2 years with 11 + 2 + 2 educational pattern. In 1967 it became a degree course, BSc (PT). Now it is BPT for 10 + 2 + 4 and 1/2 years.
WHO had laid a condition while establishing DPT that all the teaching in medical subjects be carried out by professors in the respective subjects. All the teachers happened to be of high repute with international standing. This was a rare opportunity for us and laid a firm professional foundation. I remember the thrust of their teaching even today!
