Shri. Ashok Indalkar has been working in the field of Prosthetics and Orthotics for the last 32 years. In the year 1980 I was admitted at the All India Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Mumbai after passing H.S.C (Science) to the Diploma in Prosthetics and Orthotics Engineering, which I completed in the year 1983. In the year 1991 I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics (B.P.O) and in the year 2009 I passed the Master’s degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics (M.P.O.) from the same Institute.
Initially I worked on the Research Project conducted by Society for Promotion of Medical Research from July 1983 to February 1984. On 1st March 1984 I joined an N.G.O by the name Fellowship of the Physically Handicapped (F.P.H) at Mumbai as a Prosthetic and Orthotic Engineer and later joined All India Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Mumbai in April 1985 as a Prosthetist and Orthotist.From 1985 onwards I am engaged in services to the persons with disability, research in developing low cost aids and appliances making use of appropriate technology for persons with locomotor disabilities and training in the field of Prosthetics and Orthotics. I am approved as an Associate Professor by Maharashtra university of Health Sciences (M.U.H.S.) Nashik for B.P.O.course and recognized as P.G. guide for M.P.O. course. His area of interest is Spinal Orthotics and Lower Extremity Prosthetics.
