ADHD: What? Why?
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a common neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity, all of which present as a deficit in executive functions. The exact cause of ADHD is still unknown while research suggests some factors which might lead to ADHD. These factors are premature birth, low birth weight, drug abuse, smoking and/or drinking during pregnancy, genetic factors, exposure to toxins such as lead, brain injuries etc. It is a myth that ADHD is caused by eating too much sugar or watching too much TV or poor parenting/teaching as proven by many researches.
